Rectangular Wall Mirrors – Tips For Hanging

When it comes to purchasing, and receiving your new rectangular wall mirror, your first step is going to be hanging it properly. Because of the weight of these mirrors, and what happens if they fall off the wall and hit the floor, you are going to want to make sure that you take your time while you are hanging it, and ensure that you have mounted it in a sturdy location. Most wall mirrors will come with their own mounting hardware that is typically sufficient for securing the mirror to the wall without having to worry about it falling down later. When you are ready to hang the mirror, you’ll want to follow our steps below.

Step #1) Make Sure That You’ve Located The Studs In Your Wall – The biggest problem people face when they are hanging their mirrors is the fact that they attach the hangers to the drywall, and do not ensure that they have hit the studs in the wall. If you have a heavier mirror, and attempt to hang it to the drywall alone, you are going to find out that it is not sturdy enough to hold the weight of it, which can cause your mirror to eventually fall. Hanging makeup mirrors is a bit easier since they are usually much smaller.

Step #2) Use The Proper Sized Anchor Bolts Or Hangers – Another problem that you can avoid is to use the proper sized anchor bolts for the weight of your mirror. Even if you manage to hit the studs inside the wall with your anchor bolts, if they are not durable enough to hold the weight of the mirror, they can still allow it to fall to the floor. Because of this, simply take the time to ensure that the sized mounting hardware you are using is sufficient to hold your mirror, and if it is not, consider upgrading or heading down to your local hardware store.

Step #3) Ensure That The Mirror Is Centered On Your Mounting Hardware – Once you have the mounting hardware attached to the wall, you will need to hang your mirror onto it. The wire that is attached to the back of your mirror will typically allow you to simply place the mirror on it, and it will find the center point for you. However, some wires are rougher than others, and will not allow the mirror to slide on its own. When this happens, you will need to visually check to make sure that the mirror is centered onto the mounting hardware.
